Terms of Service

Last updated: September 21, 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Holley Turner, operating as ACCTstudy ("ACCTstudy," "we," "us"), governing your access to and use of ACCTstudy's website, application, and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. Who Can Use ACCTstudy

ACCTstudy is intended for individuals who are at least 16 years old. You must enter your date of birth when creating an account, and we verify server-side that you meet this minimum age before your account is created - we don't rely on a checkbox alone. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this minimum age requirement. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction (but at least 16), you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. See the Privacy Policy for how your date of birth is used and retained.

If you are using ACCTstudy on behalf of a school, district, or other institution, that institution is responsible for confirming this Service meets its own student-data compliance obligations (for example, FERPA in the United States) before deploying it to students.

3. Your Account

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep it up to date.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for anything illegal, or to violate your school's or institution's academic integrity policies (for example, submitting AI-generated work as your own where that isn't permitted);
  • Attempt to access another user's account, data, or course materials without authorization;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including attempting to bypass rate limits, security controls, or usage restrictions;
  • Upload content you don't have the right to share, that infringes someone else's intellectual property, or that contains malicious files (viruses, malware, or similar);
  • Use automated tools to scrape, extract, or bulk-download content from the Service without our prior written permission;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits it despite this restriction;
  • Circumvent, disable, or otherwise interfere with any subscription, payment, or access-restriction feature of the Service, once such features exist.

5. Your Content

You retain ownership of the course materials, notes, and other content you upload to ACCTstudy ("Your Content"). By uploading Your Content, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display it back to you, and to use it to generate the study tools (flashcards, tests, lessons, and similar features) you request - solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. We don't use Your Content to train AI models, and we don't sell it.

You're responsible for making sure you have the right to upload Your Content - for example, that uploading a professor's slides or a textbook excerpt for your own personal study use doesn't violate any agreement you have with your school or the material's copyright holder.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service itself - including its design, code, and the ACCTstudy name and logo - is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property law. These Terms don't grant you any rights to our intellectual property except the limited right to use the Service as intended.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings.

8. Fees

ACCTstudy requires an active paid subscription (Basic, Pro, or Pro Plus) to use the Service - there is no free plan. Each plan's price, billing frequency, and included usage are shown before you subscribe, and your payment method is charged automatically at the start of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from Settings → Billing, with no need to contact us, and you keep access through the end of the period you already paid for. See our Refund Policy for how refunds and billing errors are handled.

9. Third-Party Services

ACCTstudy uses third-party services to operate, including a hosted database/authentication provider and an AI service to power features like the Kai tutor, generated study materials, and homework help. See our AI Disclaimer for important limitations on AI-generated content, and our Privacy Policy for what's shared with these providers.

10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that AI-generated content, study materials, or grading will be accurate or error-free - see the AI Disclaimer. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including any impact on your academic performance or outcomes.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

12. Dispute Resolution

If a disagreement comes up between you and us about these Terms or the Service, we'd like the chance to resolve it directly first - contact us using the details in Section 14 before pursuing any other action, and we'll work in good faith to sort it out informally.

If it can't be resolved that way, any dispute will be resolved through binding arbitration on an individual basis, rather than in court, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies. You and we each waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action. This section will be governed by the arbitration rules of the State of Georgia, USA, per Section 11 above.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where required, ask you to re-accept the updated Terms.
